Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
  • Recognize when there is a victim of cardiac arrest.
  • Identify when a person may be choking.
  • Assess the scene for responder safety.
  • React immediately by activating emergency response systems – call 9-1-1.
  • Begin chest compressions on unconscious adults, child or infant in cardiac arrest.
  • Follow depth of chest compression and rescue breath guidelines while responding.
  • Assist individuals who need assistance in basic first aid emergencies.
  • Use an AED device following standardized guidelines.
